Start by making the gelatin snow globes – they will need overnight to dry properly.
Inflate water balloons to about 6-7 cm in size, tie them into a knot, then carefully push the tip of a skewer through the knot.
14 pieces balloons, long skewers
Pour 8 flat teaspoons of gelatin into a fairly wide glass and add 16 teaspoons of water – mix thoroughly, then briefly heat in the microwave until it becomes liquid.
60 g food gelatin, water
Dip the balloons in gelatin so they are almost entirely covered, let the gelatin drip off, then stick the skewer with the balloon into styrofoam to let it dry.
If the gelatin becomes too thick, reheat it during the process, or place the glass in a pot of hot water.
After about 10 minutes, prepare a second batch of gelatin – add water to the remaining 8 teaspoons of gelatin, add 16 teaspoons of water, heat, and dip all balloons in the liquid again.
Set the balloons aside for a few hours – or preferably overnight, to harden completely.
The next day, lightly pierce the balloons and gently peel the rubber from the gelatin shell.
Even out the bottoms of the spheres with scissors.
