Mascarpone and blueberry dessert – notes
In summer, with hot weather, I don’t feel like baking cakes and turning on the oven. And when we crave something sweet to eat after dinner, or for a snack, that’s when ideas for quick desserts served in glasses or parfait dishes come in handy. Recently, I made my family just such a blueberry dessert served with mascarpone cheese and whipped cream. Light, fluffy, wonderfully fruity. If you like such uncomplicated recipes that don’t require any special or hard-to-find ingredients, if you have little time to prepare something extra, then you must try this recipe! You can also save it for later (I recommend my Instagram profile, where you can easily save recipes and come back to them when you need them).

What ingredients are needed to prepare a blueberry dessert?
To prepare this blueberry dessert, you will need just a few basic ingredients easily available in larger stores. Here is a condensed list of products I used and possible substitutes.
- blueberries – for me, these are fresh blueberries; outside of the season for these fruits, you can use frozen blueberries – you don’t need to thaw them beforehand
- mascarpone cheese – you can easily buy this Italian cheese at Lidl or Biedronka
- whipping cream – for me, it’s 30% fat cream in a carton; you can also use 36% cream – then the calorie content of the dessert will slightly increase
- ladyfingers – I used long ladyfingers (like for tiramisu) and one such ladyfinger was enough for a serving; you can also use regular sponge fingers, or even shortbread cookies – in that case, it’s worth crushing them thoroughly

What can replace blueberries in the dessert?
If you can’t buy blueberries anywhere, or you don’t like them, you can use wild blueberries instead. Raspberries will also work well here – both fresh and frozen. You can also prepare mascarpone dessert with other fruits – such as strawberries or peaches (in that case, peel them beforehand).
How to store a blueberry dessert?
If you’re not serving the dessert immediately, it’s worth putting it in the fridge – especially if it’s hot. This dessert tastes best when it’s cold. Then it will be wonderfully refreshing on hot days. If you’re preparing it with biscuits instead of ladyfingers, also keep it in the fridge for a while so that the biscuits soften slightly from the cream and are easier to eat.
