  • 150 g wheat flour – all-purpose (- 1 cup)
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 200 g ground poppy seeds (BackMit)

  • 1 kg quark cheese (for cheesecakes – good, full-fat)
  • 4 eggs (- size L)
  • 2 packages vanilla pudding (- for half a liter of milk (sugar-free))
  • 200 ml milk

  • 200 ml heavy cream (- I used 30%)

How to make poppy seed sponge cake

  • Beat the eggs together with sugar until a thick and fluffy mixture is formed.

  • Meanwhile, sift the flour together with baking powder through a sieve.
    150 g wheat flour – all-purpose, 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • Add the ground poppy seeds BackMit to the flour and mix until combined.

  • Add the flavoring to the beaten eggs (if using).

  • Reduce the mixer speed and gradually add the flour with poppy seeds, mixing continuously.

  • Line the baking pan with parchment paper.
  • Pour the batter and bake in an oven preheated to 170 degrees Celsius (fan-assisted) for about 35-40 minutes – until a dry stick comes out.

  • After baking, cool the sponge cake and cut it into 3 layers.

How to make cooked cheesecake

  • Melt the butter in a large pot.

  • Add sugar and quark cheese – mix.

  • Add eggs one by one – mix the mixture thoroughly.

  • Cook the quark cheese until small bubbles begin to appear.
  • Add the puddings mixed with milk to the quark cheese and mix thoroughly.

  • Cook until the mixture thickens – you can blend the cheesecake with an immersion blender at the end to make the mixture more uniform.

How to assemble cooked cheesecake on poppy seed cake

  • Place the bottom layer of poppy seed cake into the pan and spread about half of the cheesecake mixture onto it (you can pour it hot).

  • Place the second cake layer and spread the rest of the cheesecake mixture.
  • Cover the top with the last cake layer.
  • Heat the heavy cream, and when it’s very warm, add the broken chocolate to it – stir until it melts.

  • Chill the cheesecake in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours.

Today I have for you a recipe for a sensational poppy seed cheesecake prepared as a layered cake :)

What’s more, this cheesecake is cooked, so if you’ve been afraid to make cheesecakes because they didn’t turn out well, you absolutely must check out this recipe!

The only thing you bake here is a simple poppy seed cake, or rather, a poppy seed sponge cake.

You cook the cheesecake mixture in a pot and spread it over the baked cake.

Preparing such a cake is super simple, and much faster than baking a cheesecake – you must try it!

How to make cooked cheesecake with poppy seeds?

First, we start by preparing the poppy seed cake – you can bake the cake a day or two in advance and store it wrapped in foil.

We use ground poppy seeds to bake the cake.

Here I can recommend BackMit poppy seeds. You add such ground poppy seeds directly to the dough and don’t waste time on long cooking and then grinding. This significantly shortens the preparation time of our poppy seed cheesecake. You can, of course, also use it to bake poppy seed cake for Christmas.

BackMit ground poppy seeds are a very practical solution – ideal for anyone who values time-saving and excellent taste. Just pour a small amount of hot milk over the poppy seeds, and after a moment, you’ll have a ready product – it doesn’t require prior soaking or time-consuming grinding with a machine. And for this cake, you don’t even need to soak the poppy seeds in milk! Once you have the poppy seed cake baked and cooled, you cut it into three layers and start preparing the cooked cheesecake.

What kind of quark is best for cooked cheesecake?

Here you need good and fatty quark – preferably from a bucket. But you can also use block quark, but then grind it with a machine beforehand to make it nicely smooth.

Cooking cheesecake is a bit like cooking pudding.

First, melt butter with sugar and add quark and eggs to them – it’s important to mix the eggs thoroughly here so that you don’t accidentally end up with scrambled eggs ;)

When the mixture starts to simmer gently, add the puddings mixed with milk and cook, stirring.

You don’t need to cool the cheesecake mixture before spreading it on the poppy seed cake, so immediately after preparation, pour the mixture onto the cake and put it in the fridge to chill.

After a few hours in the fridge, the cooked cheesecake will set, and then you can serve it to your guests :)
