Dulce de leche – recipes for everyone!
Dulce de leche is a very sweet, thick, chewy, and over time hardening mass created by cooking milk or cream with sugar. Another way to make dulce de leche is to cook a can of sweetened condensed milk for 3-4 hours. Dulce de leche is also popular in Latin American cuisine, where it is known as dulce de leche (source Wikipedia).
I usually buy ready-made dulce de leche, because it’s more convenient and faster.
If you’re cooking dulce de leche from condensed milk, don’t do it for too long, it might become gelatinous. Once, the can even exploded on me!
I often use dulce de leche in my bakes. It’s great for layering cakes with cream, for filling cupcakes, you can make liqueur or ice cream from it.
