Sour Cherries
Sour Cherries – recipes with sour cherries for everyone!
Sour cherries are a popular fruit that can be eaten fresh, processed into jams, juices, preserves, or used as an ingredient in baked goods and desserts.
They are rich in many important nutrients, including vitamins C and A, fiber, potassium, calcium, iron, and antioxidants.
The antioxidants in sour cherries, such as flavonoids and ellagic acid, help combat free radicals in the body and protect against heart disease, cancer, and neurological disorders. Sour cherries are also beneficial for digestive health, as they contain fiber that supports digestion and prevents constipation.
Sour cherries can be enjoyed fresh or added to cakes, bundts, and muffins.
In Poland, sour cherry preserves are very popular—mainly jams and confitures. Personally, I love making sour cherry compote to use for layering cakes, as well as in desserts, pancakes, or fritters.
