How to make chocolate-pistachio tart step by step
Step 1 – preparations
- Grease the bottom of the tart pan with butter and sprinkle with breadcrumbs – you can also line it with parchment paper.
- Grind the pistachios for the pistachio layer thoroughly – but slightly larger pieces of nuts can remain, which will add crunchiness.50 g pistachios
Step 2 – preparing the base
- Thoroughly grind or crush the cookies (together with the cream).approx. 160 g Oreo cookies
- Melt the butter together with the chocolate – I melted them in the microwave (for about 1 minute) – mix until well combined.20 g butter, 50 g dark chocolate
- Add the melted chocolate to the crushed cookies and mix them together.
Step 3 – lining the pan
- Add the cookies to the prepared pan and first press a thin layer onto the sides of the pan – up to about 2 cm high.
- Then thoroughly press the cookies onto the bottom of the pan – a glass or metal measuring cup works very well here.
- Place the pan with the cookie base in the refrigerator to set slightly, and in the meantime, prepare the filling.
Step 4 – preparing the pistachio layer
- Transfer the pistachio cream to a bowl, add the ground pistachios, and mix with a spoon (if your cream is very thick and rather firm, you can briefly warm it in the microwave beforehand to soften it).approx. 200 g pistachio cream, 50 g pistachios
- Spread the cream over the cookie base and distribute it in an even layer.
- Place the pan back in the refrigerator.
Step 5 – preparing the chocolate ganache
- Heat the heavy cream in a saucepan until it is hot – but not yet boiling!250 ml heavy cream
- Then remove it from the heat and add the broken chocolate – wait about 5 minutes for the chocolate to soften.250 g dark chocolate
- Thoroughly mix the chocolate with the cream until smooth and uniform.
- Spread the chocolate over the pistachio layer and smooth it out.
- Sprinkle the tart with chopped pistachios.approx. 20 g pistachios
- Refrigerate for at least an hour, so that the ganache sets.

No-bake chocolate-pistachio cake – notes
Easter holidays are approaching, so I’m testing new recipes that will be perfect for the festive table. Such a chocolate tart with pistachios can easily pass for a native mazurek – just in a more modern form. The cake itself is no-bake and can be made at the last minute, as it is also extremely simple and requires few ingredients. You must try it!

What ingredients are needed to prepare a chocolate tart with pistachios?
To make this dough, you’ll only need a handful of basic ingredients. Below, I’ve shared a concise list of the products I used, along with possible substitutions.
- cookies – for the tart base, I used chocolate sandwich cookies — in my case, Neo cookies from Lidl. You can just as easily use classic Oreo cookies or any other chocolate sandwich biscuits. Just remember to process them whole — cream filling included.
- chocolate -I used dark chocolate here — specifically Fin Carré chocolate from Lidl. Make sure to check the weight of your chocolate, as manufacturers often reduce the actual gram amount. If you have a serious sweet tooth, you can swap in milk chocolate instead. Just keep in mind that for the ganache, you’ll need to melt the chocolate in a smaller amount of heavy cream, since milk chocolate won’t set as firmly. In that case, use about 180 ml of cream.
- heavy cream – I used liquid whipping cream from a carton with 30% fat content, but you can also go for a 36% cream — the ganache will be thicker, and yes, a bit more indulgent calorie-wise!
- pistachio spread – I used pistachio cream from Lidl (the Maribel brand), and my jar was 190 g. You can use any pistachio spread you like — you’ll find similar ones at Biedronka as well. If your jar is slightly bigger, around 200 g, just use the whole thing to avoid wasting any leftovers.
- pistachio -In the recipe, the pistachio weight refers to shelled nuts only. You can buy pistachios already shelled at Lidl — I used unsalted ones, but salted pistachios will work just as well. In fact, that sweet-and-salty combo is delicious and gives the tart a really nice character.

How to store a chocolate and pistachio tart?
The tart is best stored in the fridge, but it can easily sit out for a few hours without any issues. Personally, I think it tastes even better slightly warmed — it softens a bit and practically melts in your mouth.
You can also freeze the tart for up to about 3 months.

How many calories does a chocolate and pistachio tart have?
In the table under the recipe, I’ve listed the calorie count per 100 g based on the ingredients I used. If you cut the tart into roughly 12 equal slices, each piece will have about 387 kcal (carbs – 34 g, fats – 26 g, protein – 5 g).
I hope this incredibly delicious chocolate and pistachio cake makes its way onto your table too. If it does, I’d be thrilled if you shared your thoughts with others in the comments under the recipe.
