Banoffee Cupcakes with Frosting – Notes
These Banoffee banana cupcakes are inspired by my Chocolate Banoffee Pie. If you haven’t made this dessert yet and you love bananas, you definitely need to add it to your must-try list. In a nutshell, Banoffee Pie is a buttery crust topped with bananas, a layer of dulce de leche, and whipped cream. The whole dessert is quite sweet—just as you would expect—but absolutely delicious. I made my version of this classic dessert with a chocolate twist to balance out the sweetness a little.

How to Make Banoffee Cupcakes with Dulce de Leche – Tips
First, we need to bake the cupcakes, of course. I made simple but incredibly delicious banana cupcakes. It’s best to use ripe bananas here—they will make the cupcakes even more flavorful and moist. Once the banana cupcakes were baked and completely cooled, I used a teaspoon to scoop out small holes in the center of each one. I filled each cavity with a teaspoon of ready-made dulce de leche. Then I whipped heavy cream with mascarpone cheese and a little powdered sugar and piped the frosting onto the cupcakes. Finally, I drizzled the Banoffee Cupcakes with a little caramel sauce. You can easily make homemade caramel sauce—I recommend my quick microwave caramel sauce :) Because of the frosting, these cupcakes are best stored in the refrigerator. You can also keep the banana cupcakes themselves in an airtight container and add the frosting just before serving.
I also encourage you to try my recipe for Banoffee Pavlova—it’s sweet, but absolutely addictive. Be sure to check out my other recipes for delicious cupcakes and muffins too.
