Bundt cakes are popular bakes usually defined by their characteristic ring or spherical shape with a central hole. This shape is achieved by baking them in specialized fluted pans (often called tube pans).

They are most often prepared from yeast dough, enriched with eggs, milk, sugar, butter, and flavourings like vanilla, lemon, or orange. However, pound cakes (made from creamed batter) and various sponge cakes are also incredibly popular.

Bundt cakes can include various additions, such as raisins, dried fruit, nuts, or even a splash of liquor.

Preparing yeast Bundt cakes takes time, as the dough needs to rise to achieve the right volume. Creamed Bundt cakes (pound cakes) are much quicker to prepare.

How to Serve a Bundt Cake?

Bundt cakes are typically served drizzled with icing/glaze or dusted with powdered sugar. You can also coat them with a chocolate glaze.

They make an ideal snack with coffee or tea, but can also serve as a sweet addition to desserts.

In the past, these cakes were mainly baked for Easter.

Hostesses paid meticulous attention to them. All ingredients had to be of excellent quality. They used tons of eggs—especially for muslin cake—almonds, saffron, raisins, etc.

Now, we bake Bundt cakes not only for the Easter holidays but all year round.

The cake is baked in special molds with a central tube/chimney.

Thanks to this tube, the cake has its characteristic “donut” shape with a hole in the middle!

One Bundt cake is not like the next!

Bundt cakes can be pound cakes (often called sand cakes in Polish), creamed, sponge, or yeast-based.

Chocolate, vanilla, or even pumpkin flavour.

Today, we can have these cakes in any flavour and with any addition we like.
