Why bake this orange cake with crumble topping?
If you like simple cakes perfect for coffee, then you absolutely must bake this orange cake with crumble topping. And there are several reasons for this. Firstly – very basic and easily accessible ingredients. Secondly – very simple and quick preparation – even without using a mixer. A bowl and a spoon are enough to make this cake, so you can bake it practically in any conditions – even when traveling ;) Thirdly – the taste of the cake – the cake is wonderfully moist, aromatic and with a generous layer of lightly crispy, amazing crumble topping. You can eat the crumble cake not only as a dessert and an accompaniment to coffee, but it can also be a great sweet breakfast, a snack during the day, or even a snack on the go. Ingredients needed to bake orange cake with crumble topping
To make such a moist orange cake at home, you will need a few basic ingredients. Below is a condensed list of products I used and possible substitutes.
- oranges – large oranges for juice will be best here, but any ripe orange will do. First, I recommend grating the zest (I do this on a fine vegetable grater), and then squeezing the juice. I added the zest from one orange and 120 ml of juice to the cake itself. If you get less juice, add milk to make up the difference. For the crumble, I added the zest from a second orange. If you don’t have fresh fruit, you can add regular orange juice to the cake and omit the zest.
- Greek yogurt – you can substitute it with thick natural yogurt or natural skyr.
- oil – I used rapeseed oil, but you can replace it with another neutral-tasting oil.
- butter – for the crumble, I used 82% extra butter; you can optionally replace it with a butter blend or vegetable butter.

How to store orange cake to keep it moist?
To keep your orange cake with crumble fresh and moist for as long as possible, I recommend transferring it to an airtight container with a lid, or covering it with an airtight cake dome. In such a container, the cake can last for several days, or even a week, at room temperature (there’s no need to put it in the fridge).

Can orange cake with crumble be frozen?
Yes, this cake is suitable for freezing. It’s a good idea to divide it into smaller portions beforehand, pack them separately, and then freeze. The cake can be frozen for about 3 months.

How many calories does orange cake with crumble have?
In the table just below the recipe, I provided the caloric value for 100 g of the cake (using the products I used). However, if you divide the cake into approximately 20 equal portions, each slice will have about 207 kcal (carbohydrates – 29 g, proteins – 3 g, fats – 9 g), so you can calmly and without guilt enjoy such a piece with your afternoon coffee ;)

I hope this moist orange cake will also find its way into your home. With this recipe, precisely described step-by-step, with preparation photos and a video, baking such a cake will be as easy as pie ;) If you try the recipe, I would be very happy if you share your comments under the recipe afterwards.
