Muffins with Dulce de Leche Filling – notes
I recently made dulce de leche bundt cake and had some dulce de leche left over from it. So I came up with these simple and quick muffins baked with added dulce de leche. The cupcakes themselves turned out nicely fluffy and slightly sweet. You can eat such muffins for a sweet breakfast, a snack during the day, or as a dessert. Be sure to try this recipe and bake such muffins for your loved ones.

What ingredients are necessary to bake muffins with dulce de leche?
To bake these muffins, you only need a few basic ingredients that you probably already have at home, or can easily buy in any store. Below I provide a condensed list of products I used and possible substitutes.
- dulce de leche – I used canned dulce de leche from Gostyń, you can use any dulce de leche – including flavored ones – e.g., chocolate or nut flavored.
- yogurt – I used thick Greek yogurt here, but you can also use plain natural yogurt.
- oil – I used rapeseed oil, you can also use another type of oil, but preferably one with a mild flavor.
- all-purpose flour – any flour will be good.

How to diversify the flavor of dulce de leche muffins?
If you like, you can also add other ingredients to the muffins themselves to enhance their flavor. Chopped chocolate or chocolate chips would work well here – add them to the batter and mix before spooning into the liners. If you wish, you can also add fruits to the muffins – preferably small ones – like blueberries or raspberries. Chopped nuts would also be a good addition :)

How to store dulce de leche muffins?
Dulce de leche muffins do not need to be stored in the refrigerator. They can safely be kept on the counter at room temperature. I only recommend transferring them to a container with a lid. This will ensure their longer freshness and prevent the muffins from drying out, helping them retain their fluffiness and moisture.
You can also freeze dulce de leche muffins for about 3 months.
