- 3 egg yolks (from L eggs)
- 120 ml lime juice

- 1-2 tablesponn powdered sugar (to taste)

How to make Key Lime Pie step by step
Step 1 – preparations
- Preheat the oven to 180℃ (top/bottom heat mode).
- Line the bottom of the baking pan with parchment paper and grease the sides with butter.
Step 2 – preparing the tart crust
- Crush the biscuits into a fine powder.approx. 180 g biscuits
- Add butter to them and mix.approx. 80 g butter
- Line the sides of the form with cookies – to a height of about 2 cm and the bottom.
- Pre-bake the prepared crust for 10 minutes and then cool slightly.
Step 3 – preparing the lime filling
- Transfer the egg yolks to a bowl and mix with a kitchen whisk.3 egg yolks
- Add lime juice and grated zest to them – mix.120 ml lime juice, skórka z 1-2 limonek
- Pour in the condensed milk.1 can sweetened condensed milk
- Mix until you get a uniform mass.
- Pour the filling onto the pre-baked crust.
- Lower the oven temperature to 160℃ (fan-assisted) and bake the tart for about 15-20 minutes – until the center is set and the filling no longer moves.
- Cool the tart completely.
Step 4 – decoration
- Whip the heavy cream with sugar until it forms a thick whipped cream.ok 150 ml heavy cream, 1-2 tablesponn powdered sugar
- Decorate the tart with cream.

Citrus lime tart – notes
I had been meaning to make this Key Lime Pie for a long time, but I finally got some limes and baked it for a weekend dessert. Previously, other recipes for classic American “pie” type desserts appeared on the blog – you can try the apple pie recipe, or the cherry pie – both delicious and simple to make. This lime tart is also very simple to make and will appeal to anyone who likes sweet and sour combinations.

What ingredients are needed to prepare a lime tart?
To make Key Lime Pie, you will only need a few basic ingredients. Below is a condensed list of the products I used and possible substitutes.
- digestive biscuits – you can substitute them with other shortbread cookies – e.g., oat cookies, but ultimately, drier sponge fingers can also work
- butter – I used extra 82% butter, you can optionally replace it with a butter-blend type or vegetable butter.
- sweetened milk – I used a can of sweetened condensed milk here – mine was from Gostyń, you can use other condensed milk, but it must be sweetened.
- limes – can’t find limes anywhere, but you’re craving this tart? Oh well – use lemons :)

How to store Key Lime Pie?
The lime-filled tart is best stored in the refrigerator, as it will be very refreshing and perfect for warm days. It can also stand calmly for a few hours outside the refrigerator – although if it’s decorated with whipped cream, the heat will negatively affect it.

Do I need a tart pan to make this tart?
No, you don’t. As you can see from the photo in the recipe, I made this tart in a regular 24 cm springform pan. The removable rim makes it much easier to remove the tart and serve it later.

How many calories does Key Lime Pie have?
In the table below the recipe, I provided the calorie count for 100 g of the tart. If you divide it into 12 roughly equal portions, each piece will have approximately 318 kcal (carbohydrates – 38 g, protein – 5 g, fats – 16 g).
If you want to slightly reduce calories, skip the whipped cream and sugar decoration – the tart itself without the cream will have about 277 kcal per slice (carbohydrates – 36 g, protein – 5 g, fats 12 g). So, one could say, very pleasantly ;)
