Panna cotta with chocolate and coffee – notes
Summer is in full swing, so today Italian chocolate-coffee panna cotta reigns supreme at my place.
Panna cotta is a very popular cold dessert in Italy, prepared with cream thickened with gelatin. After chilling, the dessert tastes exquisite and is perfectly refreshing on hot days.
If you haven’t tried such an Italian dessert yet, you absolutely must catch up quickly.
There are already several panna cotta recipes in various flavors on the blog, and now I’ve made us a chocolate-coffee version.
I probably don’t need to tell you how perfectly this combination of flavors harmonizes?
The velvety layer of chocolate panna cotta with milk chocolate is delicately sweet and delicious. The coffee layer, created by combining strong espresso and sweet heavy cream, adds character and a stronger flavor to the dessert. This is all thanks to good coffee.
Espresso is a small, strong, black coffee usually prepared in an espresso machine or a moka pot. It’s a one-sip coffee, so it has a small volume but a lot of ‘power’. Italians love their espresso and drink huge quantities of coffee prepared this way.
Get some good coffee and prepare a strong espresso for this coffee dessert.
Great coffee, perfect for preparing espresso and more, can be found on the Coffeedesk website. Besides coffee, you’ll also find a huge selection of teas and accessories necessary for perfectly preparing coffee and tea.

How to make a tilted dessert in glasses?
As you can see in the photos, my panna cotta is slightly tilted :)
How to prepare the dessert to achieve such an effect?
I placed my glasses into a large muffin tin and tilted them. Into these tilted glasses, I poured the chocolate panna cotta and carefully transferred the tin with the glasses to the refrigerator. After chilling, the panna cotta has this nice tilted shape. A simple trick, and the dessert immediately looks a lot better – right?
What if you don’t have such a muffin tin? Use a bowl, or for example, ramekins for baking. Generally, it needs to be something stable in which you can place a glass at an angle. You can also place something on one side to lift one side of the glass – I used glass beads.
If you like, you can also pour the coffee panna cotta into a tilted glass, then the effect will be even nicer :)
I hope you enjoy this coffee panna cotta and will prepare it often.
P.S.
If you like such nice desserts in glasses, take a look at my other mini dessert recipes – you’ll find here, among others, tiramisu, the most famous Italian dessert made with mascarpone cheese and ladyfingers soaked in coffee. As you can see, coffee works perfectly in desserts :)
